Turn Off, Tune Out, Drop In — THE BENCH

When: Thursday 6:30pm - 9:00pm

We understand it might be difficult to commit to a full term of study.

We encourage you to drop in when you can at The Bench to work on any jewellery projects you may have on the go or wish to start. 

Do you want to keep building your skills-set but need to access a bench and equipment? Fallen behind in class? Is your assignment due soon? Need to solder that final join and you can’t access your campus workshop? No problem, we’ve got you sorted at The Bench.

There is no lesson plan here! Think you might like their advice or require their help with that tricky join? No sweat! An expert tutor will always be there to calmly help you get the most out of your evening at The Bench.

Prerequisite
This opportunity is for competent students who have completed a minimum of Stage 1 Introductory Jewellery Making or equivalent. If unsure, please discuss with The Bench prior to booking. 

Course Objectives
It is expected that you already are familiar and have been inducted on jewellery equipment in our workshop. If you are new to The Bench please arrange to arrive earlier for OH&S induction. You must be reasonably competent at soldering and basic jewellery making.

The tutor can be available for questions and assistance, however, please be aware that this is not a class.

Course Outcomes
The Bench provides this time for you to work on your own projects. Should you wish to discuss ideas or troubleshoot, please don’t hesitate to get in touch prior to arrival and confirm that what you need can be provided.

What’s Included
You will need to bring your own consumables – saw blades, solder and emery. Please bring any materials you need. A small selection of materials and consumables will be available to buy from your tutor at cost price. (Please bring cash for any purchases).

If you are working with gold, you are required to supply your own gold solder. If you require specific tools, equipment or material, please contact jewellery@thebench.sydney to arrange.
